The City of Melbourne is moving forward with improvements to the Wickham Road and Mariah Drive intersection. This project aims to enhance safety and traffic flow by re-aligning Mariah Drive to better match the intersection with Wickham Road. A dedicated left turn lane will be added for eastbound Mariah Drive, allowing simultaneous left turns from both Mariah Drive and Constellation Drive. The project will also involve acquiring a private landscaping tract along Mariah Drive for city right-of-way and relocating neighborhood entrance signs and landscaping. Currently, the project is in the design phase, with a task order for professional engineering services approved. This design work includes survey, concept planning, utility coordination, traffic analysis, and preparation of roadway and signal plans. Future phases will involve construction. Local contractors, suppliers, and service providers in site preparation, grading, concrete, paving, electrical, and landscaping could find opportunities as the project progresses from design to construction. Engaging early is advantageous before bid and permit processes are finalized.
