The City of Melbourne City Council is considering a proposed charter amendment that would allow the City Council to give the Zoning Commission (also known as the Planning and Zoning Board) the duties of the Board of Adjustment. This change, if approved, would let the City Council dissolve the Board of Adjustment and assign its responsibilities to the Planning and Zoning Board. The City Attorney's Office is not suggesting that the Planning and Zoning Board be dissolved and reformed. This item is currently under review. If approved, this change could lead to work related to administrative processes and legal services for the city.
