5. Request Approval of Agreement for Bridge Design

Clay County is planning to reconstruct a bridge on CSAH 21 in 2027. The bridge was recently load rated and found to have severe timber deterioration, limiting it to 5-ton loads. To address this, a 3-span slab bridge design has been chosen as the most feasible option. The county is seeking to contract with Houston Engineering for the design services, which will be incorporated into the 2027 roadway project. This project is currently under review for agreement approval. The work will involve design services, followed by site clearing, grading, and construction of the new bridge and roadway. Contractors specializing in bridge construction, site preparation, concrete, and paving, as well as suppliers of construction materials, could find opportunities. Early engagement is advised as the project moves through the design phase before bids and permits are finalized.
