Santa Rosa County is proposing to rezone approximately 29 acres located on Lands End Lane in Gulf Breeze from Single Family Residential (R1) to Passive Park (P1). This change also shifts the Future Land Use from Single Family Residential to Conservation/Recreation. The county is pursuing this as a public private partnership to protect and preserve the environmentally sensitive property, removing the possibility of building homes. The project is currently under review, with a recommendation for approval that will go before the Board of Commissioners on March 26th. Future plans may include boardwalk activities, a parking area, and potentially a small access road, all to be managed by the county as a passive recreational park. This project presents opportunities for contractors involved in site preparation, grading, landscaping, and potentially civil engineering for access and parking, as well as suppliers of park amenities and materials. Early engagement is advised as site plans and permits are still being determined.
