Where the data comes from

Every business in NewBiz Alert is a real, public business filing. When someone starts a company, they register it with their state. We pull from a variety of official state business registries, the same systems of record where a company is born the moment it files. We do not buy lists. We do not scrape directories. We do not stitch together guesses from other sources. We go straight to the official record.

How often it updates

Daily. Our system pulls the newest filings from the states every day. The businesses you see are days old, not months old. Filings can be changed or posted late, so the most recent month can keep filling in for a little while after it ends. We always show the real current count. We never show a guess.

How we sort each filing

The raw state record tells you a business exists. It does not clearly tell you that the business is a roofing company, a med spa, or a law firm. So we sort each one. First, a rules-based classifier reads the company name and the filing details. It assigns an industry and a county. When that first pass cannot tell, and some filings really do start out unclear, an AI step takes a second look and fills the gap. That way, far fewer businesses end up in a vague “unclassified” pile. The result is a clean industry and location you can filter, sitting on top of the official record.

What each lead actually contains

Here is the honest part most data sellers skip. State business registries give you the business name and the mailing address. They do not give out email addresses or phone numbers. So a NewBiz Alert lead is the business name, its registered mailing address, the filing date, the business type, and the industry and county we assign. It is not a contact list, and we will never pretend it is one.

How we keep it accurate

We keep the trail simple and easy to follow. An official state filing goes in, and a sorted record comes out. The source is always the public registry. Our quality checks run along the way. We drop filings with impossible future dates that come from filer typos. We keep the catch-all unclassified group out of our published top-industry lists, so a vague label never leads a report. We also check every breakdown in a report against the true totals, not a sample, so the parts always add up to the whole. When a number looks off, we trust the state record over a tidy story.
