The Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) met on April 16, 2026. The agenda included a review of the current agenda, approval of minutes from February 19, 2026, and presentations on Newberry Economic Development Initiatives and an update to the EDAC Enabling Resolution and Committee Structure. The minutes from the February 19, 2026 meeting were approved with corrections. A presentation on the Fresh Food Pathways Project and the Space Florida Academy Program - MOU with ACPS was also discussed. Updates to the EDAC Enabling Resolution were presented, focusing on realigning the committee with the three pillars of economic prosperity: Innovation, Heritage, and Vitality. Discussions included sector gaps, youth and academic representation, modeling the structure after the Tourist Development Council, recommended categories for seats, and health institutions. An action item was assigned to review other county structures and return with recommendations by summer for recruitment of new members. Member comments included an update on the Greater Gainesville Chamber of Commerce. Public comment was heard and noted as none.
