Community Redevelopment Agency · 2026-06-23 · agenda_packet

The City of Clermont Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) met on April 28, 2026. The meeting included an update on the Downtown Presentation by Natalie Kahler of Clermont Main Street, focusing on revitalization efforts and community-driven strategies. Dieter Grube of the Clermont Historical Society provided an update on activities at the Historic Village, including photo collection organization and exhibit revamping, noting strong visitor numbers but challenges with volunteers and donations. The main item was the Main Street Phase 2 Proposal for a Clermont Botanical Garden at Center Lake, presented by Patrick Bianchi of Clermont Main Street. The project aims to transform the lake's edge along 8th Street into a native landscape with an ADA-accessible trail, focusing on water quality, environmental restoration, economic activity, and tourism. The CRA voted 7-0 to issue a letter of support for the botanical garden project. Public comments included strong support from Rosie Mulholland (12th Street) and Ana Sinclair (575 W. Minneola Avenue), who offered volunteer and grant assistance. Jenny May (4062 Graystone Drive) suggested added features like seating and public art. The project aligns with the CRA's redevelopment plan for enhancing the State Road 50 and Center Lake entryway. A CRA workshop is planned for May to update the strategic vision and redevelopment plan, with potential CRA boundary expansion also to be discussed.
