The Jacksonville Beach City Council approved Ordinance No. 2026-8238 on its first reading, amending Chapter 12 Streets, Food and Food Products, Section 12-33(3) Hours of Operation, Signage and Noise. This amendment provides an exemption for overnight parking for mobile food dispensing vehicles. A second reading is scheduled for July 20, 2026. The Council also approved Ordinance No. 2026-8237 on its second reading, amending Chapter 34 Land Development Code, Articles III, V, VI, and VII. This ordinance was amended to disallow blank, unadorned walls along First Street and require buildings to utilize at least three design features (excluding varied roof lines and cupolas). The amended motion passed 6-1 with Council Member Wouters dissenting. The Council also approved the purchase of a 138kV/26.4kV substation transformer utilizing a piggyback purchasing method. Additionally, elected officials were authorized for travel to various Florida League of Cities conferences. The Council approved proceeding with the replacement of network gear and cameras at the Water Reclamation Facility. The consent agenda, including monthly financial reports, was approved. Public comment was heard regarding flock cameras and the police chief selection process.
