[Unincorporated area of Jackson County; case Ordinance 26-04] On June 23, 2026, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners adopted Ordinance 26-04, establishing a ban on data centers and associated facilities within the unincorporated area of the county. The ordinance prohibits the acceptance, processing, review, and issuance of development applications, development orders, development permits, building permits, and other county approvals for data centers. The ordinance includes findings, definitions, applicability, pending applications, limited exceptions, and provisions for severability, conflicts, and an effective date. Public comment included numerous speakers in favor and a few in opposition. The motion to adopt carried 4-0. [Kynesville Hwy (Marianna Fire Station)] On June 23, 2026, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the City of Marianna for a three-year period to use a portion of the Marianna Airport as an Emergency Workers Base Camp and the Marianna Farmer's Market for disaster item distribution. The board also approved paying half the cost ($3,935) for replacing the air conditioner at the Marianna Fire Station on Kynesville Hwy, as the county owns the building. [CR 167 (Old US Road) from SR 2 to the Alabama line; case 453534-1-54-01] On June 23, 2026, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners approved FDOT SCRAP Grant Agreement 453534-1-54-01 for $3,469,324 for construction and CEI on CR 167 (Old US Road) from SR 2 to the Alabama line. The project includes resurfacing, drainage improvements, and upgrading signage and pavement markings. [CR 164 Blue Springs Road from Sylvania Plantation Road to Butler Road; case 453791-2-34-01] On June 23, 2026, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners approved FDOT SCRAP Grant Agreement 453791-2-34-01 for $452,579 for the design and permitting of roadway improvements on CR 164 Blue Springs Road from Sylvania Plantation Road to Butler Road. Improvements include reconstruction with 2 - 12' travel lanes, 8’ shoulders (4’ paved), profiled thermoplastic striping, signage, and drainage improvements. [Old Madison's Street building Project; case RFP 2223-16, CDBG Grant M0043] On June 23, 2026, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners approved Amendment 001 with DAG Architects, adding $175,000 for a new contract price of $216,500 for RFP 2223-16 Architectural Design Services for CDBG Hometown Revitalization Grant M0043 - Old Madison's Street building Project. The additional funding is for complete design and increased architect fees to make the structure move-in ready. On June 23, 2026, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners approved Change Order #3 with Monolith Construction for Phase 2 of the Jackson Endeavor Museum Project, adding 62 days with no price increase. The Substantial Completion date is now August 2, 2026. [Surplus Land along Kynesville Road] On June 23, 2026, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners approved a Purchase Sale Agreement with Shilpan Dilal, Owner of Shyam Sunder, LLC, for 0.31 acres of Surplus Land along Kynesville Road for $3,875. This parcel is adjacent to a previously purchased 4.5-acre lot. [Endeavor (Smokestack Building)] On June 23, 2026, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners approved a revised Sales Contract with CAAD Development LLC for the Smokestack Building at Endeavor for $35,000. The contract includes language to protect unique features and outline progress milestones. On June 23, 2026, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Chipola College and Jackson County Fire Rescue for the Rural Health Transformation Program for workforce development, effective until October 30, 2030. The MOU provides incentives and bonuses for participating Fire Rescue staff. On June 23, 2026, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners authorized staff to initiate an RFQ for a consultant to perform an EMS Assessment Study, estimated to cost $30,000 - $40,000. [Commercial Park at Endeavor (Penn Ave to Mashburn Rd), Jackson Blue Springs] On June 23, 2026, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners authorized staff to apply for two Rural Infrastructure Fund (RIF) Grant Projects: 1) Construct a road off Penn Avenue joining Mashburn Road with utilities for the Commercial Park at Endeavor. 2) Build a Campground at Jackson Blue Springs. [Chipola River] On June 23, 2026, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners approved the purchase of 1.5 acres on the Chipola River from Ms. Mott for $100,000 using TDC funds for improvements at the Magnolia Boat Landing. Ms. Mott was also approved to apply for a Development Order for a home on her remaining 12.5 acres.
