Miami-Dade County Commission approved a resolution (File Number: 260591) to approve the specification of certain sole source materials and systems for identified Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects for the Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD). This approval allows for the advertisement of solicitations for these projects with the specified sole source materials and systems and ratifies the advertisement of two pending solicitations. The decision was based on the determination that alternative materials would be impractical and cost-prohibitive, with estimated replacement costs of $302,736,853.00. The resolution was amended and passed by an 11-0 vote on June 2, 2026. The Miami-Dade Aviation Department is undertaking a $12 billion Modernization in Action (M.I.A.) Program.
