Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is considering a resolution to approve a Preferential Berthing Rights Agreement between the County and Classica Cruise Operator Ltd. d/b/a Margaritaville at Sea. The agreement is expected to generate a positive fiscal impact of at least $23,148,594.00 over a five-year term, commencing January 9, 2027, through April 30, 2031, with two optional five-year renewal terms. Margaritaville at Sea will operate out of Cruise Terminal C. The agreement includes a Minimum Annual Guarantee and incentives for non-peak day calls and evening calls. Commissioner Milan Orbis expressed appreciation for the revenue and the addition of another cruise line but inquired about proceeding with caution on long-term agreements with new lines. Mr. Wong confirmed the advisability of the agreement, noting significant barriers to entry in the cruise industry and that negotiations spanned nearly a year. The agreement is notable in structure and unique among the port's cruise agreements.
