Miami-Dade County adopted an ordinance creating the Copart East Street Lighting Special Taxing District. The district is generally bounded by SW 236 Street (North), SW 132 Avenue (East), SW 240 Street (South), and Theoretical SW 133 Court (West). The project involves the installation of 27 LED streetlights. The developer, Copart of Connecticut, Inc., petitioned for the district, and 100% of property owners signed. The estimated first-year cost for installation and operation is $111,973.80, with subsequent years estimated at $27,779.69 annually, or $9.6524 per assessable front foot. Florida Power and Light will own and maintain the system. The estimated completion for the project is Fall 2028, with initial billing in November 2027.
