Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners ratified an emergency contract for work at the Alexander Orr Water Treatment Plant. The contract, No. EC-298173, was awarded to Industrial Divers Corp. Inc. for $268,298.00 to address an underwater obstruction in the common channel supplying Contact Basin #4. The obstruction, a buildup of calcium carbonate, was restricting water flow and threatened the plant's ability to meet water quality standards and operate at full capacity. Divers were required to inspect and clear the blockage without taking additional tanks offline. The work scope expanded due to additional buildup found during the initial cleaning. The contract was ratified to ensure safe operations, regulatory compliance, and public health.
