Miami-Dade County Commissioners ratified an emergency contract for work at the Alexander Orr Water Treatment Plant. The contract, No. EC-298173, was awarded to Industrial Divers Corp. Inc. for $268,298.00 to address an unexpected underwater obstruction in the common channel supplying Contact Basin #4. The obstruction, a buildup of calcium carbonate, restricted water flow and threatened the plant's ability to meet water quality standards. Divers were required to clear the obstruction and perform additional cleaning due to unexpected settlement. The work was deemed necessary to maintain plant operations, regulatory compliance, and public health. The contract was ratified on May 19, 2026.
