Board of County Commissioners · 2026-05-19 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution R-440-26, calling for a countywide election on November 3, 2026. This election will allow voters to decide whether to authorize the School Board of Miami-Dade County to maintain a one (1) mill ad valorem tax levy exclusively for operating expenses of public schools, including public charter schools. The tax is intended to improve compensation for teachers and instructional personnel and enhance student safety and school security, with oversight by a Citizen Advisory Committee. The levy would begin July 1, 2027, and end June 30, 2031. The School Board requested this election and will cover all associated costs. The resolution was introduced on May 15, 2026, and adopted on May 19, 2026.
