ACQUISITION OF THE FUEL FACILITY
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-16 · resolution
Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners approved the acquisition of a fuel facility property on Fisher Island, identified as Parcels 1 and 2, for PortMiami's continued and future operation. The acquisition is deemed a public necessity. The county is authorized to acquire the property through negotiation or eminent domain, with an incentive offer up to 15 percent over appraised value permitted. The current operator, TransMontaigne Terminals, LLC, will cease operations by May 2027, and the owner, HRP Fisher Island, LLC, intends to redevelop the property for residential housing. The acquisition is funded by Seaport Revenue Bonds. The Board of County Commissioners amended the property description for condemnation on June 16, 2026, following earlier directives in September and October 2025. Analysis of on-port alternatives by AECOM confirmed they were not viable.
