ACQUISITION OF THE FUEL FACILITY

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-16 · resolution

Miami-Dade County is proceeding with the acquisition of a fuel facility property located on Fisher Island, identified as Parcels 1 and 2, for the continued operation of PortMiami. The property is currently owned by HRP Fisher Island, LLC and operated by TransMontaigne Terminals, LLC, with operations set to cease by May 2027 as HRP intends to redevelop the site for residential housing. The County aims to acquire the property through negotiation or eminent domain, with an authorized incentive offer up to 15 percent over the appraised value. Appraisals range from $25 million to $430 million, and funding will come from Seaport Revenue Bonds. The acquisition is deemed a public necessity to ensure the continuous supply of marine fuel for PortMiami's cruise and cargo operations, which contribute significantly to the regional economy.
