ACQUISITION OF THE FUEL FACILITY

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-16 · resolution

Miami-Dade County is proceeding with the acquisition of a fuel facility property located on Fisher Island, identified as Parcels 1 and 2, for the continued operation of PortMiami. The property is currently operated by TransMontaigne Terminals, LLC, under a lease agreement set to end fuel operations by May 2027. The owner, HRP Fisher Island, LLC, intends to redevelop the property for residential housing. The County aims to acquire the property through negotiation or eminent domain, with an authorized incentive offer up to 15 percent over the appraised value. Appraisals range from $25 million to $430 million, and funding will come from Seaport Revenue Bonds. The acquisition is deemed a public necessity to ensure a consistent and permanent fuel supply for PortMiami's critical operations, which generate over $61 billion in annual economic impact and support over 340,000 jobs.
