Miami-Dade County is pursuing the acquisition of a fuel facility property located on Fisher Island, identified as Parcels 1 and 2, for the continued operation of PortMiami. The current operator, TransMontaigne Terminals, LLC, will cease operations by May 2027, and the owner, HRP Fisher Island, LLC, intends to redevelop the property for residential use. The County aims to acquire the property through negotiation or eminent domain, authorizing an incentive offer up to 15% over the appraised value. Appraisals range from $25 million to $430 million, with funding from Seaport Revenue Bonds. The Board of County Commissioners amended the property description for condemnation proceedings. This action is deemed a public necessity to ensure the continued supply of marine fuel for PortMiami's operations and economic impact.
