This legislative matter concerns the status of two sets of public housing developments: Arthur Mays Villas, Naranja, Modello II, and Pine Island (Directive 252178), and Kline Nunn, Little River Plaza, and Little River Terrace (Directive 252225). The County Mayor's office sought consent from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to negotiate development agreements with SG South Miami-Dade Ventures, LLC and PCSH Little River Development, LLC respectively, without a competitive process. HUD denied this request on March 13, 2026. Consequently, the County cannot proceed with direct awards and must initiate a competitive process for the redevelopment of these sites. The Little River developments are part of a $15,000,000.00 grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for resiliency upgrades, including flood mitigation and drainage improvements.
