BCC RULES OF PROCEDURE - NOTIFICATION TO DISTRICT COMM.

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · ordinance

Miami-Dade County is amending its Rules of Procedure for the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) by revising notification requirements for matters originating with the administration. The ordinance, File Number 260681, changes the rule to require notification to all commissioners for matters relating to one or more districts simultaneously, rather than only those predominantly relating to a single district. This change applies regardless of whether the Mayor sponsors the matter, and the Mayor or designee must provide written confirmation of notification. Exceptions exist for matters related to properties or facilities of regional or countywide significance, such as airports or seaports, where a written statement confirming the exception applies is required instead. The ordinance was adopted on first reading on June 2, 2026, forwarded with a favorable recommendation by the Intergovernmental and Economic Impact Committee on July 15, 2026, and is pending BCC assignment for second reading on September 1, 2026. It was previously deferred on May 5, 2026. The ordinance amends Section 2-1 of the Code of Miami-Dade County, Florida.
