Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution R-493-26, approving the award of Contract No. EVN0037379 for the hauling and disposal of dewatered biosolids and related materials (Group 2) to Waste Management Inc. of Florida for $101,251,800.00. This contract has an initial five-year term with one five-year option to renew for the Water and Sewer Department. The resolution also rejected all bids received for Group 1, which involved hauling and disposal of dewatered biosolids, due to recent changes in Florida law that significantly impacted disposal options and increased bid prices. The county is the largest producer of biosolids in Florida, generating significant daily volumes from its Central District Wastewater Treatment Plant and North District Wastewater Treatment Plant, as well as grit and mechanical screenings from three wastewater treatment plants.
