Miami-Dade County Commissioners ratified an emergency contract (E-10658, Phase 1) with Botas Engineering, Inc. for $305,228.00 to perform condenser water repairs at the Central Chiller Plant East (CCPE) at Miami International Airport (MIA). The repairs are necessary due to failures impacting the plant's ability to meet cooling demands, which has reduced total cooling output and system redundancy. This condition constitutes an operational emergency. Phase 1 involves engineering assessment and re-design services. Phase 2, for construction services, will be presented separately with an anticipated budget of approximately $35 million. The contract was ratified on June 2, 2026.
