Miami-Dade County Commission ratified an emergency contract (E-10658, Phase 1) for Central Chiller Plant Condenser Water Repairs at Miami International Airport (MIA) to Botas Engineering, Inc. for $305,228. The repairs are necessary due to failures in the condenser water system and structural deterioration of cooling towers, impacting the airport's cooling capacity and potentially causing operational disruptions. Phase 1 involves engineering assessment and re-design services. Phase 2, for construction services, will be presented separately with an anticipated budget of $35 million. The contract was declared an operational emergency on December 12, 2025, by MDAD's Director. The Aviation and Seaport Committee recommended forwarding the item to the Board of County Commissioners with a favorable recommendation.
