CENTRAL CHILLER REPAIRS
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · resolution
Miami-Dade County Commission ratified an emergency contract (E-10658, Phase 1) with Botas Engineering, Inc. for $305,228.00 to perform condenser water repairs at the Central Chiller Plant East (CCPE) at Miami International Airport (MIA). The repairs are necessary due to failures impacting the plant's ability to meet cooling demands, which has reduced total cooling output and system redundancy. Phase 1 involves engineering assessment and re-design services. Phase 2, for construction services, will be presented separately with an anticipated budget of approximately $35 million. The emergency was declared on December 12, 2025, due to critical safety issues and structural deterioration of cooling towers CT-1, CT-2, CT-3, CT-5, CT-6, CT-7, and CT-8. Botas Engineering, Inc. was selected for Phase 1 due to their familiarity with the system. The contract was adopted by the County Commission on June 2, 2026.
