CENTRAL CHILLER REPAIRS
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · resolution
Miami-Dade County Commission ratified an emergency contract (E-10658, Phase 1) for Central Chiller Plant Condenser Water Repairs at Miami International Airport (MIA) to Botas Engineering, Inc. for $305,228. The repairs are necessary due to failures in the condenser water system impacting cooling demands, with cooling output reduced from 27,100 tons to 22,730 tons, leaving only 975 tons of spare capacity against a required 4,000-ton threshold. Cooling Towers CT-1, CT-2, CT-3, CT-5, CT-6, CT-7, and CT-8 require urgent mechanical, electrical, and structural repairs. Phase 2 construction services, with an anticipated budget of approximately $35 million, will be presented separately. The emergency was declared on December 12, 2025, by MDAD's Director.
