Miami-Dade County Commission adopted a resolution accepting an Assignment of Option to Purchase approximately 38.86 acres within the Environmentally Endangered Lands Program Coastal Wetlands Project. The property was assigned by The Nature Conservancy, with Miami-Dade County as the assignee and Masri Blackpoint, LLC, as the seller. The purchase price is $971,000.00, funded by Building Better Communities General Obligation Bond funds. The property is located near SW 261 Street and SW 97 Avenue, and its acquisition is intended to preserve high-quality mangrove wetlands and associated coastal ecosystems, completing the acquisition of privately-held parcels in the Black Point Wetlands. The resolution authorizes the County Mayor or designee to execute the assignment, exercise its provisions, and accept the conveyance by general warranty deed. The County Attorney's office and the Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM) were involved in the process. The Recreation, Tourism, and Resiliency Committee forwarded the item with a favorable recommendation.
