Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution directing the County Mayor or designee to conduct neighborhood planning exercises for the Horse Country area. These exercises, including community meetings, will gather input on the area's agricultural, equestrian, architectural, and aesthetic character to explore the potential development of a community-specific thematic zoning district. The goal is to preserve the unique character of the area, which is generally bounded by SW Bird Road to Sunset Drive and from the Florida Turnpike to SW 127 Avenue, against increasing development pressures. A report with findings and recommendations is required within one year of the resolution's effective date. The first community meeting is to occur within 90 days of the effective date.
