Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution R-480-26 on June 2, 2026, ratifying a contract with Hitachi Rail STS USA for $6,729,260.00 for rail parts. The contract, awarded under Prequalification Pool FB-01645P, is for the purchase and six-year overhaul of 10 rail vehicle trucks, including two with Automatic Train Operation (ATO) antennas, for the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW). These parts are needed to replace components damaged in accidents and derailments and to maintain fleet availability. The solicitation resulted in one bid due to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) requirements and system compatibility constraints.
