ELDERLY MEALS
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · resolution
Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution authorizing an additional five years and $14,125,000.00 in expenditure authority for Prequalification Pool No. RTQ-01778, Elderly Meal Services, for the Community Services Department. This modification brings the total modified cumulative pool amount to $29,125,000.00. The pool, which was originally established in 2021, provides nutritious, ready-made meals for elderly clients through congregate meal sites, adult care centers, and the Meals on Wheels program for homebound individuals. The extension aims to ensure continued service delivery, streamline procurement processes, and reduce administrative burdens for vendors. Nine prequalified vendors, all with local addresses, currently participate in the pool. Commissioner Lopez raised concerns about the distribution of meals within District 5, particularly for low-income, Spanish-speaking seniors, and requested a list of vendors and their service areas. Ms. Burgos confirmed the list could be provided and explained the delivery methods. The item was forwarded with a favorable recommendation from the Safety and Health Committee.
