ELDERLY MEALS

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution authorizing an additional five years and $14,125,000.00 in expenditure authority for Prequalification Pool No. RTQ-01778, Elderly Meal Services, for the Community Services Department. This brings the total modified cumulative pool amount to $29,125,000.00. The extension aims to continue providing nutritious meals to elderly clients through congregate meal sites, adult care centers, and Meals on Wheels. The pool was initially established on July 20, 2021, and has nine prequalified vendors, all with local addresses. Commissioner Lopez raised concerns about meal distribution and food insecurity among seniors in District 5, requesting a list of vendors and their service areas, which was to be provided after the meeting. The Safety and Health Committee forwarded the item with a favorable recommendation.
