ELDERLY MEALS

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution authorizing an extension of Prequalification Pool No. RTQ-01778 for Elderly Meal Services for the Community Services Department. The extension grants an additional five years with an expenditure authority of $14,125,000.00, bringing the total modified cumulative pool amount to $29,125,000.00. This pool facilitates the purchase of nutritious meals for elderly clients through congregate meal sites and the Meals on Wheels program. The program is federally funded by the Alliance for Aging, Inc. under the Older Americans Act. The extension aims to maintain efficiency and reduce administrative work for both the county and existing prequalified vendors. Nine prequalified vendors, all with local addresses, are currently in the pool. Any contract award exceeding $5,000,000.00 requires ratification by the Board. The pool was initially established on July 20, 2021, and is set to expire on September 30, 2031, with the current extension.
