ELDERLY MEALS

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution authorizing an extension of five years and an additional $14,125,000.00 in expenditure authority for Prequalification Pool No. RTQ-01778, Elderly Meal Services, for the Community Services Department. The total modified cumulative pool amount is now $29,125,000.00. This extension allows for the continued procurement of nutritious, ready-made meals for elderly clients through congregate meal sites, adult care centers, and the Meals on Wheels program for homebound individuals. The pool was originally established on July 20, 2021, and has been modified previously. Nine prequalified vendors, all with local addresses, currently participate in the pool. Commissioner Lopez raised concerns about the distribution of meals to seniors in District 5, particularly low-income, Spanish-speaking seniors, and requested a list of vendors and their service areas. Ms. Burgos confirmed the list could be provided and explained the meal delivery methods. The extension aims to streamline processes, reduce administrative burdens for vendors, and ensure continued service delivery. Any contract award under the pool exceeding $5,000,000.00 requires ratification by the Board.
