ELDERLY MEALS

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · resolution

Miami-Dade County Commissioners adopted a resolution authorizing an additional five years and $14,125,000.00 in expenditure authority for Prequalification Pool No. RTQ-01778, Elderly Meal Services, for the Community Services Department. This brings the total modified cumulative pool amount to $29,125,000.00. The pool provides nutritious meals for elderly clients through congregate meal sites, adult care centers, and Meals on Wheels. Nine prequalified vendors, all with local addresses, currently participate. Commissioner Lopez raised concerns about the distribution of meals and food insecurity among seniors in District 5, requesting a list of vendors and information on who they serve. Ms. Burgos confirmed the list could be provided and explained the delivery methods. The extension aims for continued efficiency and to reduce administrative barriers for vendors. Any contract award under the pool exceeding $5,000,000.00 requires Board ratification.
