Miami-Dade County adopted the Peace & Prosperity Plan for Fiscal Year 2025-2026, allocating $2,888,942.00 for violence prevention, intervention, and reentry projects. The plan includes $2,800,000.00 from the Anti-Gun Violence and Prosperity Initiatives Trust Fund and $88,942.00 in carryover funds from previous fiscal years. The County Mayor or designee is authorized to select an organization to manage the Safe in the 305 Grants Program (up to $115,000.00) and an entity to evaluate the plan (up to $50,000.00). The plan focuses on programs like Fit2Lead, MDSO Turn Around Police Academy (TAP), MDSO Youth Outreach Unit (YOU), and Youth Athletic Initiative (YAMI). The County experienced a 41 percent decrease in gun-related homicides in calendar year 2024 compared to 2020. The plan aims to continue addressing the root causes of gun violence with a focus on youth.
