PROFESSIONAL SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH ARQUITECTONICA

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution R-504-26, approving the first amendment to the Professional Services Agreement (PSA) with Arquitectonica International, Inc. for the Coconut Grove Playhouse project (Project No. A-14-CUA-01). This amendment increases the contract amount by $4,248,887.00, bringing the total contract value to $6,647,567.00. The additional funds cover extended professional services for the original scope due to regulatory delays and prolonged litigation, as well as design and construction administration services for a new parking garage building. The contract term is extended from six years to a total of 14 years, including two additional one-year options. Funding will come from Convention Development Tax Bonds (Special Obligation Bond Series 2005) and parking revenues. The project has faced significant delays due to regulatory reviews, appeals, and legal proceedings, including a denial by the Historic and Environmental Preservation Board, an appeal to the City Commission, a mayoral veto, and subsequent court cases culminating in October 2024.
