RELATING TO PASSENGER MOTOR CARRIER VEHICLES

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · ordinance

Miami-Dade County is revising its passenger motor carrier vehicle (PMC) regulations. Ordinance File Number 260868 amends Sections 31-102 and 31-107 of the Miami-Dade County Code. The key change revises vehicle age requirements for PMCs providing circulator or fixed route services. Previously, the general limit was 10 model years, and 15 model years for circulator/fixed route. The amendment allows these specific PMCs to operate up to 20 model years of age or 350,000 miles, whichever comes first, provided they meet all inspection and vehicle standards. This change was prompted by a resolution from the City of Coral Gables. The ordinance was adopted on first reading by the Board of County Commissioners on June 2, 2026, and was scheduled for a public hearing before the Transportation Committee on July 14, 2026. The Transportation Committee amended the ordinance on July 14, 2026. The ordinance is expected to be effective ten days after enactment.
