RELATING TO PASSENGER MOTOR CARRIER VEHICLES

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · ordinance

Miami-Dade County is revising its passenger motor carrier (PMC) vehicle age requirements. The ordinance amends sections 31-102 and 31-107 of the Code of Miami-Dade County. The key change allows vehicles used for circulator or fixed route services to operate up to 20 model years of age or 350,000 miles, whichever comes first. This change was prompted by a resolution from the City of Coral Gables urging the County to amend the code. The ordinance was adopted on first reading by the Board of County Commissioners and scheduled for a public hearing before the Transportation Committee. The Transportation Committee amended the ordinance on July 14, 2026. The ordinance was introduced on May 14, 2026, and adopted on first reading on June 2, 2026. The effective date is ten days after enactment.
