Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution authorizing the negotiation of an agreement with ANDE Corporation to purchase three ANDE Rapid DNA Systems. The county will also apply for and receive grant funds from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement totaling approximately $7,903,270.00 to cover the cost of the systems, installation, training, consumables, and a five-year warranty. The systems are intended for use in the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department's Intake and Release Bureau to expedite identification of individuals and potentially match them to unsolved cases. The resolution waives a previous requirement for agreements to be executed by all parties before board presentation.
