Miami-Dade County Commission adopted Resolution R-499-26 on June 2, 2026, declaring certain firefighting equipment surplus and authorizing its donation to Alcada Municipal, Utica, Cundinamarca, Colombia. The equipment, consisting of 24 jackets, 24 pants, 24 hoods, 24 sets of gloves, 24 pairs of boots, 24 helmets, and 24 ear flaps, was deemed obsolete and unusable by county departments or local organizations. The resolution waived standard surplus property disposition procedures by a two-thirds vote. The recipient municipality is responsible for all transfer costs and must take possession within 90 days of the resolution's effective date. Roberto J. Gonzalez was the prime sponsor.
