TRANSIT DEVELOPMENT PLAN MAJOR UPDATE

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted the 2026 Transit Development Plan (TDP) Major Update, covering the 10-year period from Fiscal Year 2026 through Fiscal Year 2035. This plan, branded as MDT10Ahead, is a requirement for transit agencies receiving state funds and serves as a strategic guide for identifying and defining public transit needs. It establishes a 10-year strategic and financial framework for transit investment, explores the relationship between land use and transit, and documents anticipated future demand. The update includes an overview of the TDP, public involvement process, coordination with other plans, operating environment, land use analysis, demand estimation, and a 10-year implementation and financial plan. Public outreach included a survey with over 5,000 responses, pop-up events, social media efforts, and presentations to various committees. The survey indicated general rider satisfaction and feelings of safety at stations, with opportunities for improvement in accessing stations and stops. An Advisory Review Committee (ARC) provided guidance. The plan is coordinated with other county and regional planning efforts and is a prerequisite for State Public Transit Block Grant funds. The County Mayor or designee is authorized to submit the TDP Major Update to the Florida Department of Transportation.
