TRANSIT DEVELOPMENT PLAN MAJOR UPDATE
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-06-02 · resolution
Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted the 2026 Transit Development Plan (TDP) Major Update, covering the 10-year period from FY 2026 through FY 2035. This plan, branded as MDT10Ahead, is a requirement for transit agencies receiving state funds and serves as a strategic guide for public transit needs. It establishes a 10-year strategic and financial framework for transit investment, explores the relationship between land use and transit, and documents anticipated future demand. The update includes an overview of the TDP, public involvement process, coordination with other plans, operating environment, land use analysis, demand estimation, and a 10-year implementation and financial plan. Public outreach included a survey with over 5,000 responses, pop-up events, social media efforts, analysis of 311 calls, and the Citizens' Independent Transportation Trust (CITT) ambassador program. The survey indicated general rider satisfaction and feelings of safety at stations, with opportunities to improve safety in accessing stations and stops. An Advisory Review Committee (ARC) provided guidance. The plan is coordinated with the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) and other regional partners. Ridership growth is forecasted to outpace population growth, particularly among choice riders. The adoption is a prerequisite for State Public Transit Block Grant funds.
