BBEETF DISBURSEMENT OF $650K FOR MOORING BUOY PROGRAM

Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is considering a resolution to authorize the disbursement of up to $650,000.00 from the Biscayne Bay Environmental Enhancement Trust Fund for the Miami-Dade County Mooring Buoy Program. This funding will be used for the installation, maintenance, and management of mooring buoys in the coastal waters of Miami-Dade County. The program, established in 2009 and expanded in 2023, aims to protect natural and artificial reefs by providing designated mooring locations and preventing anchor damage. The work will be overseen by the Restoration and Enhancement Section of the Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM). The Recreation, Tourism, and Resiliency Committee has forwarded this item to the Board with a favorable recommendation. A previous disbursement of $350,000.00 was authorized in 2018 and has been fully utilized.
