Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners is set to ratify Change Order No. 1 to Contract No. S-945 with Ric-Man International, Inc. for the construction of a 60-inch Force Main (NL-1A) (West Segment). This change order increases the total contract amount by $1,662,315.17 and grants a 426-calendar day time extension. The project involved approximately 10,000 linear feet of 60-inch Prestressed Concrete Cylinder Pipe (PCCP) Force Main along NW 162nd Street from NW 6th Avenue to NE 8th Avenue. The increase in cost is attributed to various construction challenges including utility conflicts, roadway repairs, tree mitigation, failures of existing asbestos cement pipe water mains, and unforeseen site conditions. The project has been successfully completed, and this change order serves as the final contract closeout. The original contract was awarded on January 7, 2021, and ratified by the Board on April 20, 2021. The total contract value will increase from $19,314,785.95 to $20,977,101.12. The change order includes a value engineering credit of $56,150.00 and reallocation of $720,899.14 in unused contract funds to offset additional costs. Small Business Enterprise (SBE) goals for the contract are expected to be met upon approval of this change order.
