Miami-Dade County is calling a countywide special election on November 3, 2026, to allow voters to decide on amending the Home Rule Charter to expand allowable advertising within parks. The current charter limits advertising to sponsorship of events or facilities, and the proposed amendment aims to remove this limitation to generate revenue for the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department. The revenue generated would be exclusively for the park system. This matter requires a two-thirds vote of commissioners present to be placed on the ballot.
