Miami-Dade County is establishing the Copart West Street Lighting Special Taxing District. The district is generally bounded by SW 236 Street to the north, SW 134 Avenue to the east, and the C-102 Canal to the south and west. The project involves the installation of 18 LED streetlights on concrete poles. The estimated cost for the first year is $82,815.28, with subsequent years estimated at $18,647.70 annually. The estimated cost per assessable front foot for the second year is $4.8380. The developer, Copart of Connecticut, Inc., petitioned for the district, and 100% of property owners signed. The estimated completion is Fall 2028, with initial billing in November 2029. Florida Power and Light will own and maintain the system. The Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department will manage the district.
