Miami-Dade County Commissioners are set to ratify an emergency contract for Electrical Infrastructure Oversight and Maintenance Service for the Lightspeed Facility. The contract, valued at $358,256.00, is awarded to Solares Electrical Services, Inc. This emergency measure was necessitated by a construction incident on April 25, 2025, involving Suffolk Construction Company, Inc., which compromised the electrical systems of the Lightspeed facility. Lightspeed houses critical operations including the 911 call center, 311 operations, and the Real Time Crime Center. Solares Electrical Services, Inc. was already on-site performing work and was deemed uniquely qualified to provide immediate oversight and maintenance due to their existing knowledge of the facility's systems. The County is pursuing remedies against Suffolk Construction Company, Inc. for costs incurred.
