ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION AND UTILITY SERVICE FEE
Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · ordinance
Miami-Dade County is establishing a loan program for environmental remediation projects that protect the drinking water supply. This program will amend Section 24-34 of the County Code and utilize funds from the Utility Service Fee. Loans will be available for properties currently or previously owned by the County (as of January 1, 2025), must be 10 acres or larger, and focus on drinking water supply protection benefiting the Water and Sewer Department. Loans to non-County entities will be zero-interest, repaid over 35 years, and secured by a second priority lien. Loans to County departments will also be zero-interest and repaid within 35 years. The program is discretionary and requires Board of County Commissioners approval. The matter is currently in committee.
