ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION AND UTILITY SERVICE FEE

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · ordinance

Miami-Dade County is establishing a loan program for environmental remediation projects that protect the drinking water supply. This program will amend Section 24-34 of the Code of Miami-Dade County, Florida, and will be funded by the utility service fee. Loans will be available for properties currently owned by the County or previously owned by the County as of January 1, 2025, provided the properties are 10 acres or greater. Eligible applicants include County departments, tenants on County-owned properties, and owners/tenants of former County properties. Loans will have zero interest, be repaid over a maximum of 35 years, and require Board of County Commissioners approval. The program is discretionary and does not create a right to a loan. The Infrastructure, Innovation & Technology Committee is reviewing the ordinance.
