ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION AND UTILITY SERVICE FEE

Board of County Commissioners · 2026-07-21 · ordinance

Miami-Dade County is establishing a loan program for environmental remediation projects focused on drinking water supply protection. This program will utilize funds from the Utility Service Fee and is governed by Ordinance File Number 261035. The loans are for properties that are currently County-owned or were County-owned prior to January 1, 2025, and must be 10 acres or larger. Eligible applicants include County departments, tenants on County-owned properties, and owners/tenants of former County properties. The remediation must benefit the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department. Loans to non-County entities will have zero interest, be repaid starting in the sixth year over 35 years, and require a second priority lien. Loans to County departments will also be interest-free and repaid within 35 years. The program is discretionary and requires Board of County Commissioners approval. The matter is currently in committee.
